About Clark County

Clark County is located in the southern part of the state of Nevada. The majority of its residents are concentrated in the Las Vegas across an expansive 435 square miles. Established in 1909, Clark County derives its name from Sen. William Andrews Clark, the visionary behind the railroad that interconnected Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. The founding of Las Vegas in 1905 can be attributed to Clark's railroad, which, after making stops in the area, procured land for a town site and initiated the sale of lots through auctions, giving rise to downtown Las Vegas.
